Baraboo - Floy U. Waddell, 87, of Baraboo, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 1993. Mrs. Waddell, the daughter of Herbert Elsworth and Bessie Mary Thomas was born on Nov. 22, 1905 in Vernon County, Wisconsin. She had been a longtime resident of the Baraboo area. After graduation from Baraboo High School Floy attended Reedsburg Normal Teachers College in the early 1920s. She taught for several years in rural schools, until her marriage to Arthur Waddell in November of 1927. Arthur, an electrician, and Floy were owners and operators of the Waddell Refrigeration Co. in Baraboo until their retirement.

Floy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Baraboo, the Retired Teachers Association, and a past member of the Phthain Sisters.

Survivors include six children, Gordon (Betty) Waddell of Verona, Joan (Walter) Leudtke of Janesville, Patricia Gage of Baraboo, Janice (Frankie) Kallian of Mauston, Neil (Millie) Waddell of Stoughton, Mary (Jerry) Alexander of Baraboo; 21 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur on May 20, 1977, her son Arthur Jr. on March 24, 1991, one grandson, Thomas Kallian, one brother, Homer Thomas, and one sister, June Christopherson.

She is also survived by one brother Leslie Thomas, and three sisters: May Baer, Frantie Jessie, and Elsie Barker.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 10, 1993 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Baraboo with Pastor David Hutchens officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church.
