BARABOO - May Baer passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2004, after a short illness. She was born on Feb. 18, 1908 in Stark Township, Vernon County, Wisconsin, to Herbert Elsworth and Bessie (Eastman) Thomas. May was married to Howard Baer on Dec. 18, 1926.
He farmed for a few years and then moved to Madison, WI to work for a defense factory during the war. After the war, they both quit their jobs and enjoyed a year of travelling all over the United States and ending in Florida for the winter. They returned to Madison in the spring where May was employed at the University Post Office. She later became the housekeeper of Sellery Hall when it was built. May retired in 1967 and moved to Baraboo.
She is survived by two Sisters, Frantie (Raymond) Jessie of North Freedom, and Elsie Barker of Portage; a Sister-in-law, Edna Thomas of Madison; many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. May was preceded in death by her parents, her Husband Howard, two Sisters June, (Oscar) Christopherson of Sun City, CA, and Floy (Arthur) Waddell, of Baraboo; two Brothers, Leslie Thomas and Homer (Adeline) Thomas, of Madison.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 18, 2004, at the NEW LIFE COMMUNITY ADVENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH, Baraboo, with Pastor Samuel Walsh officiating. Burial will take place in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.
