Gore, Margaret Powers, 89, first resident of Sea Ranch Lakes, died November 20, 2001. Margaret was born the second of ten children, March 24, 1912 in Evanston, Illinois to Edward S. Powers and Margaret Powers. She graduated from Evanston Township High School in Evanston in 1930 and was a graduate of St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in 1933. She worked in private duty nursing and in pediatric care at St. Francis Hospital of Evanston, Illinois. Mrs. Gore married Robert Haury Gore, {R. H. Gore, Jr.) December 20, 1938 and lived in Lake Zurich, Illinois until moving with her husband to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in 1945. Helping her husband, and her father-in-law, the late R. H. Gore. Sr. Mrs. Gore served in various duties at the Governors' Club Hotel and the Fort Lauderdale News. She also was a member of the Fort Lauderdale Garden Club, the Holy Cross Auxiliary, St. Anthony's PTA. St. Thomas Aquinas High School Parent-Teacher Association and Ft. Lauderdale Oral School. Mrs. Gore ahs two surviving siblings, Dorothy Powers of West Palm Beach and Rita Kavanaugh of Evanston, Illinois. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, R.H. Gore, Jr., her five children Robert H. Gore, III, Ph.D., Paul A. Gore, Ann Gore, Sue Ellen St. Amant and Jane Louise Gore, 8 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Margaret Powers Gore passed away at her home of 47 years. Funeral arrangements are by Baird-Case & Jordan-Fannin Funeral Home of Fort Lauderdale. A private viewing and memorial service will be at the Gore home in Sea Ranch Lakes. Call Paul A. Gore at 752-7807 for details. The funeral mass will be held at Assumption Church, Pompano Beach on Friday, November 23, 2001 at 11:00 AM. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a living memorial at the Garden of Mary Help of Christians Church in Parkland, FL.
