Winifred Schmeichel, age 86, of 2109 - 31st St. Two Rivers, died early Saturday morning, October 27, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay.
Winifred was born on May 12, 1926 in Two Rivers, a daughter of the late Wenzel and Mary (Swoboda) Doleysh. She attended public schools in Two Rivers and was a graduate of Washington High School. On Sept. 25, 1948, she married Roland Schmeichel at St. John's Lutheran Church in Two Rivers. Winifred enjoyed playing cards, especially with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Roland Schmeichel; one daughter, Kay Avci of Manitowoc; two sons & a daughter-in-law, Greg and Sue Schmeichel, and Steven Schmeichel, all of Two Rivers; four grandchildren, Nicole and Justin Schmeichel, and Sirin and Narin Avci. She is further survived by one sister & brother-in-law, Beverly and Frank Hlinak of Melnik; three sisters-in-law, Mildred Doleysh, Mishicot, Eunice Doleysh, Manitowoc, and Ruth Forcey, Camarillo, CA; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters: Esther (Leo) Wessely, Leona (Maynard) Doerfler, Dorothy (Glen) Nimmer, Helen (John) Plansky, and Julia (Clifford) Johnson; three brothers: Wenzel Doleysh, Clarence (Cecilia) Doleysh, and Wilfred Doleysh; and a brother-in-law, William Forcey.
Rev. David Arndt will officiate at a private family gathering to be held for Winifred.
Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 - 18th St. Two Rivers is assisting the Schmeichel family with funeral arrangements.
