Obituary
Mr. Richard Douglas Anderson Sr., 70, of 38 E. Sixth St., Frederick, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.

He was the husband of Anna Mae Wetzel Anderson.

Born Sept. 14, 1931, in Kimball, W.Va., he was a son of the late Marvin E. and Margaret E. Nance Anderson.

Mr. Anderson was a veteran of the Korean War, where he served with the U.S. Army's 20th Infantry.

He was employed as an iron worker, and was affiliated with District of Columbia local. He was a member of AMVETS Post 2, Frederick; the Buck & Bass Club; and the Jeffersonian Patriotic Club, Frederick.

Mr. Anderson was also an accomplished boxer while he served in the Army; and also enjoyed baseball and horseshoes. He was a George Jones fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Richard D. Anderson Jr. and wife Tammy of Smithsburg, and John Allen Anderson; three grandchildren, Jeremy Lee Anderson, Rosemarie Elizabeth Decker and Cassandra Sierra Anderson; two great-grandchildren, Jeremy Anderson Jr. and Destiny Anderson; one sister, Phyllis Heim and husband Ray of Virginia Beach, Va.; one half brother, Melvin Anderson Jr.; and several nieces and nephews; two great-nephews; 10 stepchildren; 42 stepgrandchildren; and 19 stepgreat-grandchildren.

He will also remembered by friend, Darlene Anderson and her sons; and James Layman.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Linganore Cemetery, Unionville.

Interment will be in the cemetery following services.
