Her name is typed out in cemetery records as Tahoutza, however in a documents where she signed her name in Armenian it is transliterated as Takouitza and in another spells it in English as Takoohi, a common Armenian name. Thus it is possible that Takouitza is an antique variant of the name Takoohi which she used, and so it is spelled here as Takoutza. She was the daughter of Kapriel and Anna Davidyan of Kayseri, Turkey in the Ottoman Empire. She had five children with her husband Elias (Yeghia) Abajian (also spelled Abazian), four daughters and one unknown who must have died young. Elias died when his daughters were young sometime around the 1890s, and so Takoohi's brothers served as guardians. These brothers moved to the United States and settled in Philadelphia, and Takoohi's daughter Guluzar left around 1899 to join them and marry. Takoohi and her other daughters arrived in Philadelphia in 1902. She died in 1930 and was buried at American Mechanics Cemetery with various relatives, but it was closed in 1951 and moved to Philadelphia Memorial Park.
