Mrs. Flick was born on Thursday, 30 December 1934, in La Mesa, Dona Ana County, New Mexico.
She was the 3rd of 6 children born to Eli Jackson Addington and Hazel Dell Brown Addington.
Joyce lived in Mesquite, Dona Ana County, New Mexico before meeting her first husband Everett Cecil Hurt, who became an electrical engineer in the US Army. Joyce and Everett were married on Friday, 04 December 1953, and lived in Las Cruces, Dona Ana County, New Mexico. They eventually made Alamogordo, Otero County, New Mexico their home in 1960. They had two children, Debbie and Scott.
Joyce was a homemaker who loved to spend time with her family either at her home or hanging out at the lake. She was compassionate to all her animals over the years. She loved to spend numerous hours working on crossword puzzles. Joyce was an amazing cook and made the best Mexican food. Her smothered bean burritos were a family favorite of all time.
Joyce was widowed by her first husband Everett in 1985. She later married Dan Flick, who also preceded her in death.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, both her husbands, her daughter Debbie, and brothers Curtis Addington and Elvin Addington.
Joyce is survived by her son Scott and his wife Karen. Her brothers Jimmy Addington, Jerry Addington and his wife Jenny, her sister JoAnn Derham and her husband Alden. Her grandchildren Shannon Miller and her husband Ryan, Kristina Garcia and her husband Ernie, Christopher Hurt, Ethan Hurt and his wife Audri, Simon Hurt and his girlfriend Cheyenne Futch. Her great grandchildren Mason, Randy, Adam and Sarah Miller and Lalis, Isabel and David Garcia, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Per Joyce's wishes, no services are planned. Cremation will take place under the direction of Kaster Maxon Funeral Home in El Paso, Texas.
The family will plan a private celebration of her life at a later date.
