Emily Roxanna Murphy was the daughter of William Edward Murphy Sr and his wife, Cinthia Frances Whitehurst. She was married to James Henry Mosley on June 15, 1899 in Knotts Island, Currituck County, North Carolina.

"VIRGINIA BEACH - Mrs. Emiley R. Mosley, 82, of Route 1, Princess Anne Borough, died Tuesday at 3:45 p.m. in a hospital.
A native of Princess Anne County, she was a daughter of William E. and Mrs. Frances Whitehurst Murphy and the widow of James H. Mosley.
She was a member of Charity Methodist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. J.J. Atwood, Mrs. F.L. Brown Sr., and Mrs. H.E. Brown Sr., and a son, Ervin W. Mosley, all of Virginia Beach, 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The body will be taken from H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to Charity Methodist Church for a funeral service Friday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. L.E. Grace. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at 1416 Charity Neck Road.
