Mary Elizabeth Chappell, aged 53, died at a local hospital yesterday morning at 1:40 o'clock, after an illness of more than three months. She was the wife of H.T. Chappell, of Back Bay, Princess Anne County, and daughter of the late William E. and Mrs. Frances Whitehurst Murphy. She was a lifelong resident of Princess Anne County. Besides her husband she is survived by the following children, William J., Rufus C., Tazewell W. Chappell and Mrs. R.W. Henley, all of Back Bay; George W. Chappell, of Hyde County, N.C.; Mrs. John C. Waterfield, Norfolk and Mrs. James A. Martin, Princess Anne; two sisters, Mrs. Ira Bailey, Norfolk and Mrs. Henry Moseley, Princess Anne and three brothers, David, John and Lewis Murphy, all of Princess Anne.

The body of Mrs. Chappell will be taken from the funeral home of E. Lee Cox & Brother, 631 Westover avenue, to Charity Church, Princess Anne County, this afternoon where services will be held at 3 o'clock. Burial will be in the church yard.
