Mrs. Mary Lena Plumley, 89, of Route 1, ShadySpring, died Sunday at 1:30 a.m. in a local hospital following a long illness.
Born May 10, 1879 in Franklin County, Va., she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Holland Goodson. She was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church at Abraham.
She is survived by two sons, Grover of Fayetteville and Delbert of Abraham; four daughters, Mrs. Willie (Elsie) Bragg of Shady Spring, Mrs. Voyl (Zella) Adkins of Abraham, Mrs. Porter (Ora) Ervine of Handley, and Mrs. William (Ocie) Wright of Helen; 24 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband Abraham preceeded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the East Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Oscar Lilly officating. Burial will follow in the East Salem Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The body is at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home where friends may call after 3 p.m. today.
