She came to the harbor area as a young girl and was married to Gordon Phill Aldrich on July 18, 1952. He died on May 18, 2004.
The couple resided in Hoquiam for a brief time prior to moving to Summit City, California. They next resided in Goldendale, Washington until 1964 when they moved to Aberdeen and to Humptulips in 1967 where she had since lived.
Ruth worked as a waitress at the Ocean Shores Inn, the Surf and Sands, the Boulevard Lunch and was last employed at Gamber’s Café in Hoquiam until she retired in 2005.
Ruth had attended the Calvary Lutheran Church in Aberdeen as well as their Bible study classes.
Ruth is survived by: two sons, Michael Aldrich and David Aldrich both of Humptulips; two sisters, Beatrice Clark of Chicago and Ethel Stauss of East Grand Forks, Minnesota; one brother, Elton “Sonny” Anderson of Redding, California; four grandchildren, Becky and Chris Aldrich and David and Pat Wakefield and three great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Mark who died in 1957 as well as two brothers, Henry and Steve and four sisters, Gudren, Ellen, Alice and Joyce.
The family has requested donations be sent to the Humptulips Volunteer Fire Department Memorial Fund, Fire District #17, P.O. Box 23, Humptulips, Washington 98552.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 16, 2007 in the Coleman Mortuary Chapel in Hoquiam.
Direction is by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
