Kenneth A. "Ken" Giebler, 91, Hays, died Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at HaysMed. He was born May 28, 1929, on the family farm near Severin, Kansas the son of James and Virginia (Koerner) Giebler.

On August 11, 1972, he was united in marriage to Edna Urban at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays.

He was a Sergeant in the United States Army stationed in occupied Japan during the Korean War. He owned and operated Giebler Electronics in Hays, was a Radio Engineer for KAYS and KRSL, and maintained and serviced towers for the radio stations and KAKE Television. His memberships included: St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Third Degree Knights of Columbus Council #1325, the Bishop Cunningham Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, the Hays VFW Post #9076, and the Hays American Legion Post #173.

He sang for many years with the St. Mary's Choir, the St. Joseph Parish Choir, the Volga German Men's Choir, and loved classical music and playing the piano. Ken enjoyed sports, was an avid Kansas City Royals and Chiefs fan, enjoyed woodworking in his shop, and loved playing cards and spending time with family and children.

Survivors include his wife Edna, of the home in Hays, a brother; Vernon Giebler and wife Lori of Hays, two sisters: Ruth Carter of Jacksonville, FL and Mae Desch-Boos of Lafayette, CO, extended family: the Mike and Christine Weber family of Hays, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Joseph and James Giebler, and six sisters: Loretta Stecklein, Sylvia Stecklein, Ventura Weigel, Alice Schneider, Lorraine Dreiling, and Jeannie Rupp.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Monday, October 26, 2020, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Matthew Cowen officiating. Burial with military honors by the Hays VFW Post #9076 Honor Guard will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 on Sunday and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Monday, all at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. A Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 6:00 pm, a vigil service will be at 7:00, followed by a combined Third and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus rosary, all on Sunday at the funeral home. The Bishop Cunningham Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus will stand honor guard from 6:15 until 7:00 on Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church, TMP-Marian High School, or for masses.
