STAUNTON - Russie Virginia Farrar Dodd, 93, a resident of Loyalton Nursing Home, Staunton, passed away Tuesday (Sept. 6, 2005) at Augusta Medical Center. She was born Aug. 28, 1912, in Nelson County, the daughter of the late Samuel Thomas and Myrtle Critzer Farrar. She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church, the Christian Women's Club and she had worked at DuPont, Glenn L. Martin Company, Crompton Company and Morton's Frozen Foods. She enjoyed auctions, refinishing furniture and reselling it, church work, knitting and replacing cane bottoms in chairs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death, her husband, Clark Dodd Sr., on Nov. 27, 1986; a son, Clark Dodd Jr., on July 28, 2000; 12 brothers, Arthur, Charlie, Howard, Ollie, Robert, Paul, Carroll, Glenn, Clarence, Harry, Henry and Sam Farrar; and three sisters, Claire Bush, Etta Craun and Mary Goodwin. Survivors include one son, Dale Dodd and his wife, Carolyn, of Afton; two daughters, Genevieve Floyd, a resident of Loyalton and Mary Elizabeth "Pat" Graves of Nellysford; one daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Sue Dodd of Afton; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday (Sept. 9, 2005) at the Waynesboro chapel of Reynolds Funeral Service by the Rev. John McLean. Burial will follow at Hebron Baptist Church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Dale Dodd Jr., Troy Dodd, Clark Dodd III, Lanny Floyd, Donnie Floyd and Glenn Fields Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters, Roberta Yowell, Kathy Hughes, Cindy Thompson, Heather Snyder, Hollie Drobinski, Angelina Dodd, Crystal Dodd and Tambra Dodd. The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today (Sept. 8, 2005) at Reynolds Funeral Service of Waynesboro. Memorial contributions can be made to the AHC Hospice of the Shenandoah, P. O. Box 215, Fishersville, Va., 22939.
