Shirley Mae Craun, 84 of Thornton, CO, passed away on November 4th, with family at her side. Born to parents James and Mary (DeJiacomo) Ball on August 13,1936 she lived in Colorado mountain towns and Denver with her family. Shirley's husband of 64 years, Charles, will miss her dearly. She had three children Charles Douglas (Martha), Mary (passed on 4-21-2014), and Ivy (Joe). She was preceded in death by her siblings James, Donald, Bertha, Ruby, and Rosalie.

Shirley had 6 grandchildren Carrie Chiappetta (Dustin), Joey Calabrese (Tegan), Dustin Craun (Claudia), Shannon McPherson (David), Julia Craun and McKenna Craun, who she loved with all her heart. Her 9 great grandchildren brought her so much joy; Enzo, Giovanni, Noah, Adin, Isaiah, Luna, Fridha, Anna, and our newest family member Maryam. She always made going to grandmas so much fun for both her grand-kids and great grand-kids -they never wanted to go home. Whether she was baking, playing games, doing crafts, reading books (lots if it was bedtime), pr going for walks, she always gave them her undivided attention, listened to them with a caring heart and gave them tons of smiles and wonderful memories. She shared lots of grand-kid time with Maryanne McPherson, her friend and family.

Shirley has many nieces and nephews, extended family members and a lot of friends who she cherished. She had to be the world's best at sending cards!! There were no emails or phone calls for special occasions that were not also accompanied with a hand written card filled with love. Family birthdays will not be the same without her getting Charlie on the phone and singing Happy Birthday. She was great at keeping in touch with friends and family. What a goal we can all strive for, less social media and more personal touches and compassion to others in our lives.

She was a member of the Bronco Quarterback Club for many years. A trip to Blackhawk was a favorite thing to do to reduce stress. We cannot be sure how much time she spent watching her kids, grand-kids, and great grandchildren perform, whether it was school, music, sports, drama, or backyard slip and slides. Shirley was a great cook and would set up wonderful parties for holidays and events. She was there for all of us. She volunteered many hours at her church setting up visits for elderly members. Shirley's faith was very important to her.

Shirley had different jobs over the course of her life, but her most valued was family caregiver. She gave herself for us even when she was hurting, with all her medical struggles she still managed to smile and take care of others.

We will miss and continue to Love You Dearly!! Thanks for being such a great gift to all of us.
