Alfred Henry was the son of John CRUSE (bn. Virginia) and Mary Elizabeth MASSEY (bn. North Carolina), who married on Dec 20 1839 in Huntingdon, Tn.

Alfred Henry Cruse married Mary Ann NANEY. He died at the age of 79, in Mansfield, Tennessee. His daughter, Luzanne Cruse Simmons Provow, shares the joint grave marker with her parents, with her inscription being on the right side of stone located in Ephesus Cemetery, Carroll Co., Tn.

Alfred Henry was a Confederate soldier. His death was due to choking, while eating, at his son, Attison Cruse/Crews home. He was one of the charter members of the Ephesus Baptist Church, which is now located across the road from Ephesus Cemetery, which he also helped establish.
