"Russell "Cat" Persilver Sr., 63, a native and lifelong resident of Charenton, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at 5:30 a.m., at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Ethel Vilcan Persilver of Charenton; mother, Nelly Higgins Persilver of Charenton, one son, Russell "Rusty" Persilver Jr. of Charenton; one daughter-in-law, Paula Rodrick Persilver of Charenton; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Megan and Lauren Persilver, all of Charenton; three brothers, Leo "L.J." Persilver Jr. of Charenton, Roy Persilver of Charenton and Barry Persilver of Charenton; two sisters, Verda "Dookie" P. Hebert of Charenton and Gertie P. Bailey of Charenton; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Persilver was preceded in death by his father Leo Persilver Sr.; and one sister, Bertie P. Johnson. Visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 19, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and continued Monday, Jan. 20 from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., at Ibert's Mortuary. Service was Monday, Jan. 20 at 10 a.m., at Little Pass Baptist Church in Charenton. Rev. Bobby Hodsett officiated. Entombment followed in the Chitimacha Mausoleum in Charenton. Pallbearers were Berry Persilver, Leo "L.J." Persilver Jr., Roy Persilver, Henry "Big Daddy" Sedatol, Gary Vilcan and Johnny Bobbitt. Arrangements entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary of Franklin."
