John Wesley Asberry was born about 1891 in Burkesville, Kentucky. {Although his Death Certificate has the names of his parents WRITTEN in as John Wesley Asberry and Leona (Trisdale, the certificate also has his wife's name typed as Leema Trisdale Asberry, and that all gives the impression that the names of his "parents" might well be a repeat of his OWN name and that of HIS wife!}

He moved to Tennessee in 1909 and was married to Leona Trisdale ( -1950) of Gainesboro.

A farmer living in Lebanon, Wilson County, Tennessee, John was about 70 years old, a widow and had had a heart attack and died on April 6, 1962 at Nashville General Hospital, where he had been for three weeks.

Survivors included daughters Mrs Roberta Collins of Hermitage, Tennessee and Mrs Willie Jones of Thompkinsville, Kentucky, sons John Lee Asberry of Bakertown, Tennessee, Cordell Asberry and Cecil Asberry of Nashville and Albert Asberry of Lebanon, eighteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held on April 8th at Hibbett-York-Hailey Funeral Home in Donelson, and burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashville.

Much of the above is from his Death Certificate, with John Asberry of Nashville as the informant. Additional info is from his published obituary in The Tennessean on April 8, 1962.
