Jane Anne Brown's Obituary:
The Escanaba Daily Press, Sunday, January 28, 1934, p. 1, col. 5 & 6, beginning paragraph 4:
"Jane Anne Browne, daughter of Henry Walsh Browne and Mary Hoare Clayton, was born April 5, 1852 in Ashfield, Ontario, Canada.
When she was about fifteen years of age, she moved with her parents to Negaunee, and was married there in October, 1873, to the late John K. Stack, Sr., prominent lumberman and capitalist."
p. 7:
"After his death, Mrs. Stack continued to reside in the large brick home on Lake Shore Drive. Despite her advanced age, she was always active and in fairly good health until she was injured in an automobile wreck on Sunday, January 14, at Blaney Park while returning from a visit in Lansing with her son, Auditor General John K. Stack, Jr. She appeared to be recovering from the shock suffered in the accident when she was stricken the following Thursday afternoon with a paralytic stroke.
Mrs. Stack was a devout member of St. Joseph's Catholic church, and for many years was active inthe affairs of the congregation. She was also a member of the Third Order of St. Francis and the St. Joseph;s Altar Society.
She is survived by three sons and five daughters, Henry, Escanaba, John K., Lansing, Richard B., New York City, Mrs. Helen Healy, Mrs. Nancy Daley, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Ruth Carey, Oklahoma City; Mrs. Cecile Nadeau, Marinette, and Mrs. Mollie Smith, Escanaba; two sisters, Mrs. W.S. King and Mrs. John Atkinson, Green Bay; also 23 grandchildren and one great grandchild." She was 81.
