Barbara A. Mayer, age 57, formerly of Elkhart Lake, died early Sunday morning, March 14, 1999 at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility, Plymouth, where she had been a resident for the past 13 years.
She was born Dec. 19, 1941 in Manitowoc County, a daughter of Roma Seifert Hemb and the late Frederick Hemb. Barbara graduated from Kiel High School in 1959. On June 25,1960 she married John L Mayer. They made their home near Elkhart Lake. She had been employed as Office Manager at Ply-Co in Elkhart Lake until her retirement. Barb had been a member of St George Catholic Church in Elkhart Lake. She had been active as a member and Secretary/Treasurer of the ;E!k-Rhine Riders and Louis Corners Snow Birds Snowmobile Clubs.
She and her husband operated We-Ketch-'Um II Charter service out of Sheboygan and Barb was a certified Licensed Charter Captain for many years.
Barbara was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed the out of doors and God's creations, working in her garden and hunting with her family.
Survivors include her husband, John of Brooksville. Florida; three daughters, Vicki (Bryon) Bass of Montello. Jodi Harvey of Vero Beach, Florida and Kelly Mayer of Cargo, Florida: one son, Terry Mayer of Hawthorne, Florida; four grandchildren; her mother, Roma .Hemb of Sheboygan; seven sisters, Joan (Robert) Loebbaka of Sheboygan, Mar Jean (Gerald) Gutchow of Valders. Darlene (Larry) Steffen, Shari (Darnel) Wusterbarth and Diana (Daniel) Schaefer, all of Kiel, Betty (Robert) Feldner of Fremont and Paula Kellner of Reedsville; two brothers, Randall (Mary) Hemb of Oak Creek and Eric (Vicki) Hemb of Tampa, Florida.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Friday. March 19 at 4 p.m. at Rocky Knoll Heath Care Facility Chapel. .The Rev. Tom Fleischmann will officiate.
