"Last Rites for W. D. Hull Held Here Thursday Afternoon - William David Hull was born near Paola in Miami county, Kans., December 11, 1870 {incorrect}, and departed from this life at his home near Roper July 3 {incorrect), 1945, having reached the age of 74 years, 6 months and 28 days.

His parents had both departed this life before he had reached his 13th birthday and he made his home with an uncle until his marriage with Emma A. Hamm at Aurelia, Iowa, on November 21, 1894. To this union was born one son, Everett Hull of Fredonia. Last November this couple celebrated its golden wedding anniversary, quietly in its own home, receiving congratulatory messages from friends in many states.

Thirty-seven years ago he purchased and moved to a farm south of Roper where he resided continuously until his passing. During the last two years his health had gradually declined until his load was too great for him to bear. In early life he united with the Christian church in Streeter, Ill. He was a member of the Banner Grange and served master a number of years.

As his brother and sister both preceded him in death he leaves to mourn his passing his wife and son, two grandchildren, several nephews and nieces as well as a host of friends and neighbors. His passing will leave a void in his community that will be noted for many years.

Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Cason Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. E. S. Worden and the remains laid to rest in the family plot in Maple Grove cemetery."
