Charles Edgar Cumby, 86, of Bramwell, died Saturday, December 11, 1965. in Bluefield Sanitarium following a long illness.
Born January 15, 1879, in Pembroke, Va., he was a son of Aaron Thomas Cumby and Ann Williams Cumby. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cora Zidana Belcher Cumby in 1943 and his second wife Annie Maude McBride Hill Cumby, in 1954.
He had resided in Mercer and McDowell Counties most of his life, andwas a retired real estate and timber contractor. He had operated a sawmill at Bluewell several years and was a member of the Bramwell Methodist Church.
Survivors include six stepdaughters, Mrs. Harry(Louise) Goodson and Mrs. Leonard(June) Bailey of Bluefield, Mrs. Edward(Mamie) Bailey, Mrs. Robert(Francees) Eller and Mrs. Don (Ency) Allen of Bramwell and Mrs Charles(Charlotte) Boyd of Waltham, Mass.; three stepsons, Clifton Hill of Bramwell, Hugh Hill of Columbus, Oh., and Lindy Hill of Sandstone, Va.; a nephew whom he reared, Kenneth Price of Bramwell.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. at Cravens Funeral Home Chapel of Bluewell, with Rev. W.P. Eastwood and Rev. Tony Spinella officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Charlie Williams, A.L. Poteet, Frank Allen, Herman Hill, John Painter, and Hamp Hill.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Sunday.
