"Miss Leota Moore Retires After 41 Years of Sales Work ---
On Tuesday, Miss Leota Moore was observing her fifth day fo retirement -- an event which climaxed 41 years of sales work in five different Tyler general merchandise and department stores. Miss Moore ended 18 years of employment with K. Wolens Department Store, at 107 North Spring, on the last day of 1954, and thereby stepped into retirement for a permanent job of keeping house at her new residence at 1404 Mockingbird Lane, with her sister, Miss Addie Belle Moore. Miss Moore left high school as a girl and took her first job while on a shopping tour with her mother. While her mother stepped into a general merchandise store located on the south side of the square, Miss Moore asked its owner, a Mr. Lienbreich, for a job. Miss Moore was hired and remained in that store for three years. She then went to Emmet and Emmet, another general merchandise store nearby on the south side of the square. She remained there for three years. Miss Moore then went to Goldstein and Brown, located on what is now the Peoples Bank location, and she was a salesgirl for 19 years. Next, she was with the W.H. Naylor Department Store for eight years, and thence to K. Wolens where she has worked for the past 18 years. Before her retirement, Meyer Franks, manager of K. Wolens, gave Miss Moore a surprise party at his residence. The other hosts were employees of the store. Miss Moore's current plans are to keep house. She and her sister purchased the new house Monday after selling their former home on West Wilson. About the public buying, Miss Moore says it's harder to make sales than it used to be. This, she says, is because people are becoming more discriminate about the articles they purchase."

Miss Leota Moore passed away on March 27, 1971 after an extended stay at West Texas Medical Center in Abilene, Texas.
