Another case of influenza that proved fatal was that of nurse Mary Welchman, who had been nursing at the local hospital. She contracted the disease while caring for the sick and her death resulted from pluresy which followed the influenza. Burial will take place in Grover tomorrow.
Every precaution is being taken to check the disease and most of the people in Afton are now wearing masks, which help to prevent catching the disease. There are at the present time, approximately forty cases in the valley. It prevails only in the wards of Afton and Fairview.

This entire community was certainly surprised and shocked to learn of the sudden demise of Miss Mary Welchman at the L.D.S. Hospital at Afton Thursday a.m. as but very few people here knew she was really ill.
In the passing of this woman, Grover certainly looses a valuable citizen. Her life has been one constant round of helpfulness to others and unselfish sacrifice for their comfort both in her own immediate family and thruout this community. She was a capable and most faithful church worker also and leaves a host of relatives and friends here to mourn her sad departure. From the very fact that her life was sacrificed for the necessary aid of her fellowmen in distress, it can be truly said that "He that looseth his life shall find it and find it more abundantly."
