This marriage ended in divorce in 1869, when Alice was cited for adultery with Captain Tyesen Holroyd. The petition for divorce was filed on May 27, 1867, and the decree absolute was given in 1869.

2. Col. Edward Bell, born 1866 - died 1937
Alice remarried in 1873 at Croydon, England to the widowed Dr. George Fowler Bodington.
