Maurice Brooke Bodington was the son of Dr. George Fowler Bodington and his second wife Alice Brooke.

Maurice was three times married. he married Helen "Nellie" Blye daughter of Gustave Blye on September 4, 1909 in Toronto, Ontario. This marriage ended in divorce on December 26, 1931.

He then married the divorced Grace B. Thacker, daughter of Louis O. Brockway and his wife Abi L. Vant on January 5, 1932 in Erie, Pennsylvania, USA . This marriage also ended in divorce.

His third marriage was to Irene Halliday on August 24, 1949 at Carleton Street United Church, Toronto, Ontario.

Maurice was a pioneer of Canadian Radio and a radio broadcaster for 50 years.

In 1905, Maurice left his home in New Westminster, BC, Canada and headed for New York hoping to land an acting job in the Broadway Theatres. With no real acting experience, he spent the first year working as a dishwasher, a street sweeper and a server in the coffee stall of a theatre. Finally he was able to secure a position as the stage doorman at the Globe Theatre. From there, he was able to land some small acting jobs.

At the start of the First World War, Maurice returned to Canada to enlist for service with the Canadian Armed Forces. At the end of the war, he got a job with the radios station CKGW in Toronto, where he read children's stories and announced a children's talent show, on which Bobby Breen made his debut.

In 1931 he was employed by the radio station CFRB in Toronto. He left in 1944 to free-lance.

He was employed by the CBC and for many years presented a program called "Bod's Scrapbook."
