Saint John Christian Visitor, Thu 05 Jan 1865: "Mr. Editor - The following paper on the life and character of the late N.S. DEMILL was read before a meeting of the Leinster St. Baptist Church (St. John) Friday eve., Dec. 30th, approved and ordered to be sent to the 'Christian Visitor' for publication. (signed) John MARCH Deacon N.S. DEMILL was born at Hampton (Kings Co.) in 1804. His father was one of the Loyalists who came here at the settlement of this city and obtained a grant of land. His mother was a woman of deep and earnest piety, in whose early instructions he always attributed whatever success he attained in after life. In 1818 he came to St. John. At this time, and for many years, he belonged to the Church of England. He was particularly zealous in his support of the Sunday school and had classes not only in St. John, but also in Portland... At length he was convinced that it was his duty to join the Baptist Church and accordingly he was baptized in 1842. At first he belonged to the Germain St. Baptist Church and afterwards, at its separation, connected himself with the Brussells St. Church... Meanwhile his son, Rev. E.B. DEMILL had removed to this city and after a time the Marsh Bridge Church was established, which afterwards removed to Leinster St. The sickness which proved fatal to him was originally produced by too great a devotion to business from which he allowed himself but little relaxation This gradually affected his nervous system and weakened it materially every year. About two months ago he was confined to his house and gradually declined until the 26th when he breathed his last.
