---David Curtis, aged eighty years, two months and eighteen days, died at his home southeast of Gifford Friday, August 26, after a short illness.
---Funeral services were held at the residence Sunday morning at 11:00, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Gifford cemetery.
---Mr. Curtis is survived by his wife, four sons, Dell, Sam, Alva and John; one daughter, Alta Sullivan, of Fort Collins, Colorado.
---Mr. Curtis was one of the earliest settlers of Macon County when the county was but a plain, having killed deer and wild turkey where the city part of La Plata now is.
