On August 27, 1887, he married his sweetheart, Sarah Elizabeth McCann in Wetzel, WV. Sarah was originally from Greene, PA, as were the Taylor forefathers. It was to be a long marriage, separated only by death.
Much of what is known about William's life comes from the US Census records. After farming, he became a planer shown in the 1910 census. The planning process gets lumber ready to sell. By 1920, he had become a coal miner living in Clark, Harrison, WV. At that time, he and his wife are also raising their granddaughter, Edna Freeland, daughter of their deceased daughter, Sarah Myrtle.
By 1930, he and his wife were at home at Ft. Nutter, Harrison, WV, living in their own home, free and clear of mortgage encumberments. Though William could never attend school, he could read and write. The family seems to be comfortable.
William died on July 14, 1934, of cardio vascular renal disease (heart disease). Sarah, his wife, lived less than 2 years longer, dying also of heart problems. *M.Bell
