An elderly Idabel woman was killed in an accident between Idabel and Broken Bow Sunday.
Florence Farley, 73, was dead on arrival at McCurtain Memorial of massive head injuries.
She was a passenger in a pickup truck traveling north on US 70-259, five miles west of Idabel, driven by her husband, Reuben Lee Farley, 79, Idabel.
Highway Patrol Trooper Charles Watkins said the vehicle ran off the east side of the road and struck a tree. He said the accident occurred at 6:15 a.m., and that rain was falling at the time.
The victim's husband also suffered head injuries and was hospitalized at McCurtain Memorial.
Born Sept. 28, 1906 at Gum Springs, Ark., Mrs. Farley had lived most of her life in McCurtain County. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, R. L. Farley, of the home; three sons, Jerrald Dean Farley, Sacramento, Calif.; John David Farley, Dansville, Ark. and William Deward Farley, Onyx, California; two daughters, Mrs. Charity Bell Nelson, Sacramento, and Mrs. Eunice Emery, Ridgecrest, Calif.; six brothers, Rufus Caldwell and Henry Caldwell, both of Idabel; Otho Caldwell, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Garland Caldwell, Clarksville, Tex., Dan Caldwell and Earl Caldwell, both of DeQueen, Ark.; four sisters, Lucy Jackson of Idabel; Beulah Hornbeck of DeQueen; Ida Pierce of Haworth, and Mary Lou Nunn of Rio Linda, Cal.; 17 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday in the Calvary Baptist Church of Idabel, with the Rev. James Kitchens officiating.
Arrangements and burial in the Denison Cemetery are under the direction of Norwood-Welch Funeral Home.
