Rita Virginia Skidmore, age 98, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center.

Rita was born on November 18, 1923 in Argonne, WI to the late Joseph and Clara (Rouiller) Samz. After graduating from Argonne High School, she went on to obtain her Bachelor's Degree from UW Oshkosh. On January 30, 1950, Rita married Thomas Skidmore at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on April 17, 2013. Rita enjoyed being a housewife. She was a great cook, loved gardening and being outdoors. Above all, Rita loved the time she was able to spend with her family – especially her granddaughter, Jamie, and all of her great grandchildren.

Survivors include Rita's two daughters, Mary (Ken Vesely) Skidmore, and Joan (Rick) Risch, all of Manitowoc; son, John (Sandy) Skidmore, Manitowoc; granddaughter, Jamie (Shaun) Mullins, Heppner, OR; five great grandchildren, Charlie, Ella, Emma, Grady, and Griffin; also other relatives and friends. Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Clara Samz; daughter, Ann Marie Skidmore, who passed away on February 15, 1984; and five siblings, Angie (Thomas) McDonald, Elaine (Bill) Fitzgerald, Vincent (Helen) Samz, Francis (Henry) Kurtz, and Mildred Samz.

In respect with the family's wishes, private graveside services will be held at a later date with Deacon Alan Boeldt officiating. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel with burial of Rita's cremated remains to be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Mishicot.
