Henry (Hank) Behnke, Jr., age 86, a Manitowoc resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday afternoon, April 6, 2022.

He was born June 1st, 1935 in the town of Rantoul, Wisconsin, son of the late Henry and Esther (Reimer) Behnke. Henry hauled milk cans for Stecker. He continued his work career at Mike Wallander Construction as a mason. He retired from Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry in 1997. On September 2nd, 1961, he married the love of his life, "his best doll," Diane E. Wallander. Henry enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and he took great pride in his yard. Above all, he loved the many roles he played in his family.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years: Diane; five daughters and four sons-in-law: Julie (Tim) Endries, Carol (Tim) Worley, Sharon (Scott) Zippperer, Barb Behnke, Lois (Brian) Beth, one son and daughter-in-law: David (Michelle) Behnke; grandchildren: Evan (Jenni) Haupt, Lindsay (Zach) Krage, Brianna Haupt, Alyssa (Kevin) Truong, Logan Worley, Sean (Teresa) Zipperer, Seth (HaLeigh) Zipperer, Zach (Melyssa) Behnke, Brandon (Catherine) Behnke, Emma Steinbrecker, and Nathan Steinbrecker. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren; one sister and two brothers-in law: Beverly (Gene) Sonnabend and Robert Eickert; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Donald (Betty) Wallander and Charlotte Wallander. Nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and sisters-in law: Willard (Eunice) Behnke and Harold (Geraldine) Behnke; four sisters and three brothers-in-law: Evelyn (Emil) Carstens, Elmira (Charles) Preston, Doris Mae (Leroy) Laabs, and Delores Eickert; four brothers-in law and two sisters-in-law: John (Pam) Wallander, Raymond (Ellie) Wallander, Kenneth Wallander and Al Wallander; one sister-in-law: Janet Wallander; one son-in-law: Mark Haupt and other relatives and friends.

Private family services will take place and Henry will be laid to rest at Knollwood Mausoleum.
