Phillip was the first child of Owen & Sarah (Owen) Davis.

His father was the first Davis to settle in Fayette County.

Phillip had 4 sibling:

1. Samuel, 1753-1826, m. Elizabeth Stancz, 8 ch
2. Mary, 1755-1818, m. Morgan Jones, 11 ch
3. Sarah, 1757-1798
4. Jane, 1760-bef 1803

When Phillip was but 11 his mother Sarah died. By April 1764 his father, Owen, had married Hannah James. They had 12 children. So, Phillip was part of a large family.

On 8 Feb 1779 he married Hannah Jenkins. The couple had 5 children:

1. Elizabeth, 29 Nov 1779-aft Feb 1793
2. John, b. aft 1779
3. Owen, 1782-1855, m. Mary Smith, 10 ch
4. Sarah, 1789-1864
5. Ruth, 1791-unk

Records covering 1775-1783 show that Phillip served as a Private during the Revolutionary War. He worked as a farmer on his property in Springhill Twp, Fayette Co, PA.

Court records show that Phillip was the executor of his father-in-law John Jenkins' estate in 1795. He was again an executor in 1819 when his father Owen died.
