Adam Bedinger, son and apparently the youngest child of Nancy (née Sesler) and Henry Bedinger, was born in 1851 in Darke County, Ohio. He was named after his paternal grandfather and a paternal uncle. In 1860, Adam Bedinger appears to have been enumerated as "Allen" Bedinger, age 8, in the dwelling headed by Henry Bedinger, but in separate family within the dwelling headed by a married older sister, and with his two next-older sisters. In 1870, Adam Bedinger, age 20, was laborer on his father's farm in Wabash Township.

Adam Bedinger and "Catherine Emeline Cole" were married on 18 January 1874 in Fayette County, Ohio, where the bride's family lived. Because the bride was under age 18 (17 years and nearly 5 months), the bride's mother consented to the marriage. The couple farmed in Darke County, Ohio, and became the parents of six children (four daughters lived to maturity). In 1900, he was working as a teamster.

Adam Bedinger died from pneumonia on 2 April 1904 in New Weston, Allen Township, Darke County, where he resided. According to a county death register, he was married, a laborer, aged 52 years, 11 months, and 15 days.
