Mrs. Ella Haugen who lived across the highway from the Middle Grove Lutheran Church east of Mekinock, ND had her own celebration when the church observed the 75th Anniversary of it's organization. She had been the church for 50 years. It was 50 years ago when she, a 14 year old girl, began playing for church services. She had been playing for the grad school for several years. In the half century she had been married and widowed twice. Her first husband died leaving her with two little girls and two sons. Later she married Albert Haugen and one son was born to therm She carried on the duties of a prairie housewife keeping up with her music. For years she pumped the old reed organ for the congregation to sing to, but recently an electric organ was installed for the church. Mrs Haugen had been a lifelong resident of the community and is the daughter of the late Mr & Mrs T.E. Neste. Since widowed the 2nd time she moved to town twice but went back to the farm both times. Her farm house has been remodeled With a second floor apartment for her. Her son and his family live in the rest of it. With all the songs in the hymnal at her fingertips, when asked which was her favorite; Mrs Haugen paused for a moment and answered, "I believe it is "Sweet Hour of Prayer."
