Mr and Mrs Tollef Neste, early Manvel and Lakeville Township settlers, were both born on farms near Decorah, Iowa, where they grew to adulthood. Tollef Neste (1852-1933) married Sigrid Hamre (1856-1938) at Decorah where they lived until coming to Manvel in 1882. Mr & Mrs Tollef Neste operated the General Store in Manvel for about six years in partnership with Mr & Mrs Hamre (Tennis' Great grandparent) In 1888, Tollef and Sigrid (Sarah) Neste moved to a farm about five miles from Manvel, ND in Lakeville Township. They lived on this farm (where Odin Hoverson's and LeRoy Kinneys now live) until Mr Neste died in 1933. After that, Mrs Neste made her home with her daughter, Mrs H. S. Burtness at Mekinock, ND until her death. Mr & Mrs Neste were very active in community and church affairs. They were members of the Middle Grove Lutheran Congregation. In Grand Forks, ND. Peter is at Huntington Park, CA; Mrs H. S. Burtness (Bella) and Mrs Dokken (Julia) live with their children. Jule, Mrs E. G. Hanson (Sophia) Mrs O. N. Nelson (Annie); and Mrs Albert Haugen (Ella) have passed away.
