She was born in South Bend Nov. 27, 1881 and as Miss Mary Golubska was married in St Hedwige's Roman Catholic church to John Was, sr., who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Joseph, Casimir, Ollie and John Was Jr.: a daughter,. Mrs. Lucille Wegner; a sister, Mrs. Jennie Kusnierek, and 15 grandchildren, all of South Bend. Friends will be received in the home.
The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday in St. Hedwige's church with Rev. Stanislaus A. Gruza, C.S.C., pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Cedar Grove cemetery.
Mrs. Was was a member of St. Joseph's society No. 65, Polish. Women's Alliance of America.
