Kenneth Edward Altmann was born on April 3, 1935, in Muscatine, Iowa, and entered into rest on August 18, 2022, at the age of 87 in his home in Tualatin, Oregon. He was born to George and Mabel Altmann of Muscatine, Iowa. He graduated from Muscatine High School in 1953, served in the Army from 1958 to 1960 in Germany, and was honorable discharged in 1964.

Ken moved to Oregon after serving in Germany where he worked at the Oregon City Paper Mill. He met his wife Shirlie Blakney, and they were married on September 18, 1961. He went on to build the housing community called Charbonneau in Wilsonville, working as a foreman for the builder, George Marshall, for many years, then went on to Claremont working for the same builder from which he eventually retired.

Ken and Shirlie joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1970; Ken served in many callings throughout the years.

He loved working with wood and metal and was handy at almost everything. He enjoyed helping to fix and build things for all of his family and friends.

Ken will be dearly missed by his daughter Kathy (Russ) Brink and son Floyd (Carla) Altmann, both of Tigard, Oregon; stepdaughter Arlita Bearden of Arkansas and stepson Allan (Jane) Anderson of Salem, Oregon; granddaughters Natalya Lane of Utah and Heather (Paul) Wakin of Washington; and four beautiful great-grandchildren Isaiah, Amerah, Aleiah, and Micah Wakin. He is also survived by his sisters Bernice Lobdell and Eunice Cawiezell, both of Iowa, and his brother Harvey (Katie) Altmann of Texas.

Ken's sweet wife, Shirlie, preceded him in death but they are now joyously reunited.

A graveside service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery on Friday, September 9, 2022, at 10:30 AM. (Guests are asked to arrive 30 minutes prior to the service.) And a Celebration of Life is being planned with details to be shared soon.

Ken faithfully supported The Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA). The family asks that in lieu of flowers to consider donating to the PVA at pva.org.
