Jay E. Bloomfield passed away peacefully in his home on August 30th, 2022. He was born in Kirtland, NM to Alexander Findley and Nina (Bond) Bloomfield on July 14, 1925. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Owen, George, Melvin, Mae, Don, Reah, Glen, Arlin, his wife Mary (Nielson) Bloomfield, his daughter in law Merilee Bloomfield, his granddaughter Katia Lee Bloomfield, his great granddaughter Shelby Lynn Sorensen, and his great-great grandson Liam Garner Wheatley. He is survived by his children Wesley (Larcy), David (Dawn), Robert (Brenda), Dwayne (Janae), Gary (Merilee deceased), and Neil (Jennifer). Jay had 30 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren with 1 on the way. Jay was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings throughout his life. He worked as a mechanic in Alaska for 9 months and retired from the Navajo Coal Mine. He loved to fish, garden, and repair vehicles. He loved his children and grandchildren and will be missed by all who knew him. In short Jay was a master mechanic, a simple and genuine man, with a beautiful soul and heart of gold. On September 5th, 2022, there will be a memorial service at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 473 Co Rd 6100 Kirtland NM 87417 from 4 to 5pm followed by the dedication of the grave at the Kirtland/Fruitland Cemetery at 6pm. All are welcome to attend.
