Randall George Geurink was born April 3, 1958, in Davenport. He was adopted at the age of four by Leroy and Elizabeth (Altmann) Geurink in 1962. He was able to be reunited in 1976 with his other siblings, one brother and three sisters, who had also been adopted in 1962 through the First Presbyterian Church, Muscatine. He felt privileged to personally know other family members from his original birth family. He graduated from Durant High School in 1976. He assisted Andy Sorenson with new home construction, which he carried through life in building their current residence on the Cedar River just north of Muscatine. Following high school, he worked with his father to operated Geurink & Son Feed Supply. He married Polly Ann Dengler on March 18, 1978, in Muscatine. In 1983, he reopened The Wagon Wheel in Durant and later The Broken Spoke Lounge & Dance Hall in Wilton. Later he worked with Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery and Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. The couple purchased and operated Iowa Memorial Granite, which they recently sold to Peter Troost Monument Company in Hillside, Illinois. They both stayed employed there, until their retirement in September of 2022. Randy loved the outdoors and fishing with his wife. Above all, he loved the time he spent with his family.

He was a member of the Polka Chips Band in Durant, which included members Gary Bland, Steve Alpen, Mike Cielecki and David Behal. The group performed together for six years, recorded three albums, played at weddings, anniversary receptions and polka fests around the tri-county area and also included a trip to Austria in October of 1978. Randy and Polly considered this trip their honeymoon. He was a member of The Sons of the American Legion. He volunteered at the Durant American Legion fish fry for over twenty years and helped with projects at St. Paul's Episcopal Church for many years. He was active with the REC mixed bowling league for over 40 years.

Surviving are his wife, Polly; one daughter, Ronda (Melvin) Carpenter of Durant; two sons, Luke (Maria) Geurink of Muscatine and Jeffrey Geurink of Parkview; six grandchildren, Curtis, Matteson, Justin, Shelby, Becca and Randy; one brother, Melvin (Kristy) Moore of Muscatine; three sisters, Carolyn (Dennis) Riedel, Sara (Leo) McCleary, both of Muscatine and Amy (Frank) Munoz of Manassas, VA; his mother-in-law, Marilyn Dengler; and several nieces and nephews.
