Adeline (Addie) A. Matheys, De Pere, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 25, 2023, after a brief stay at the Meng Hospice Residence. She was born December 24, 1931, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, to the late John and Mary (Buresh) Buretta. Addie graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School in 1949. She married Donald Matheys on November 6, 1954, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on January 9, 2011. Addie lived a long and fruitful life, punctuated by a loving marriage, dedicated motherhood, and a successful professional career. She was outwardly quiet and unassuming but strongly proud of her family and personal accomplishments. She was especially proud of her ability to live independently and care for herself. Career wise, she was a loyal and trusted administrative professional, well known and respected in the Plymouth, Wisconsin, cheese industry while working at A&P, Borden, World Wide Sales and Masters Gallery, from where she retired in 1990. Addie enjoyed a rich and robust set of friends spanning her first 40 years in Manitowoc, her professional years in Plymouth, her retirement time in Arkansas and her golden years in De Pere. She found true enjoyment golfing with friends, playing sheepshead and Euchre with her card buddies, taking bus trips and dinner shows with her thespian group, and book club with her neighbors. Addie was active in the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family and a founding member of their senior group. She is survived by her sons, Mitchell (Mary) Matheys, Green Valley, Arizona, and Steven (Kathy) Matheys, Ashwaubenon; seven grandchildren , Shawna Hobbs, Donald (Angela) Matheys, Kerri (Joe) Matheys, Zach Matheys, Melissa (Matt) Delaney, Benjamin Matheys, and Lukas (Bella) Matheys; seven great-grandchildren; Charlie, Warren, Serena, Brodan, Taelynn, Maya and Jett. She is further survived by three sister-in-laws, Ruth Buretta, Alana Matheys, Lila (Eugene) Hills; and one brother-in-law, Lyle (Carol) Matheys. In addition to her husband, parents and mother and father-in-law, she was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Leslyn (Brueser) Matheys; two brothers Daniel (Eleanor) and Victor Buretta; two sisters, Lois (Norb) Benzshawel and Elaine (Hank) Osesek; and in-laws Harold, Gerald (Mary) Matheys, Raymond (Carol) Matheys, and Mary Ann Matheys. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1307 Lourdes Ave., De Pere, from 9:00 am until 10:45 am with Fr. James Baraniak O.Pream. officiating.
