Betty Mae Swagel, 83, Kewaunee, passed away at home on Saturday, February 18, 2023. Betty was born on October 28, 1939, to the late Adolph and Martha (Ihlendfeldt) Dvorak.

Ray Swagel and Betty met on in 1957 at a Memorial Day dance in Denmark and have been together ever since. She married him on January 3, 1959, in Mishicot.

Together Betty and Ray ran the family farm. Mother, Housewife, Farmer, just three simple words to describe so much about one woman. Whatever farming endeavors needed done, Betty was right there side-by-side with her loving husband. You could find her out milking and caring for the cows as well as driving the tractors, keeping the farm working. In her "free" time, she enjoyed volunteering, organizing and doing major fundraising for Kewaunee Knights of Columbus, helping out at the St. John's of Krok Church Picnics, and helping out at funeral lunches in Pilsen at the St. Joseph Site.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 64+ years, Ray Swagel; children, Joe Swagel, Milt Swagel, Jim (Tammy) Swagel, Mike Swagel, Barb (Rick) Meister; grandchildren, Jon Meister, Tim Meister, and Jessica Swagel; brother-in-law George Swagel; sister-in-law, Carol Dvorak; as well as by nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Martha Dvorak; son Bill Swagel; brothers, Roland (Margaret) Dvorak, Gordon (Irene) Dvorak, Milton and Robert; sisters, Jeanette (Bob) Nemitz, Grace (Rudy) Novitski; brother-in-law, Ervin Tesarik (Jeanette's first husband); sister-in-law, Mae Swagel; and one nephew. Visitation will take place at St. Hedwig – East Krok, on Monday, February 27, 2023, from 9-11 am. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am with Fr. Dennis Drury officiating. Burial to take place in the Krok cemetery. Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services – Kewaunee is assisting the family. Online condolence messages may be shared at KinnardFCS.com.
