Arthur James Allen, age 76, of Red Bird Road in Spruce Pine, the Estatoe community, died Sunday, July 26, 2015 at his home.
Born on February 18, 1939 in Macon County, NC, he was the son of the late Rev. Fred and Julie Dodd Allen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ora Allen who passed away in 2012. He was also preceded in death by his brothers; Vernon, Verdra, and Pete Allen and his sisters; Grace Anglin, Eula Hensley, Sharon Allen and Ruth Lovelace.
Arthur was a lifelong member of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church and he sang in the church choir. He was retired from Hampshire Hosiery. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and watching golf and tennis on tv.
Left to cherish her memories are his daughter; Vanessa Allen of Spruce Pine; his brothers; Charles Allen and wife, Barbara of Spruce Pine; Larry Allen and wife, Jeanette and Vaughn Allen and wife, Cynthia all of Burnsville and Harold Allen and wife, Margie of Valdese and his sisters; Magdalene Adkins and husband, E.J. of Spruce Pine and Cynthia Hoover and husband, David of San Benico, TX.
