V. G. Hurst, 77, 2901 Gary, Dodge City, Kansas died June 18, 1993 at Trinity Manor Nursing Home, Dodge City.

Born November 9, 1915 in Bazine, Kansas, the son of Bert and Gladys (Cole) Hurst, he married Dolly Shultz on August 9, 1944 in Washington, D.C.

He graduated from Bazine High School and servied in the U.S. Navy. He had lived in Ness City, Kansas and Ulyssess, Kansas before moving to Dodge City in 1982. He was a retired self-employed truck driver hauling for DeKalb Agresearch.

He was a member of the First Christian Church, Boothill Lions Club, Howard Gotschall V.F.W. Post 1714, all of Dodge City, and the American Legion, Ness City.

Survivors include: wife, Dolly, of the home; two sons, Gerald, of Dodge City, Kenneth, of Overland Park, Kansas; one brother, Orvis Hurst of Lake Stevens, Washington; two sisters, Fern Heffel of Mesa, Arizona and Fay Ditzenberger of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; and six grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m., June 22, 1993 at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, with the Rev. Larry Williams officiating. Musicians are Jeff Speilman and Nadean Knapp. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Ness City Cemetary with military graveside rites by Ness City American Legion.
