Vanita Helen Thomas, age 89, passed away on July 6th, 2023, following a long illness. She was born on June 20th, 1934, in Syracuse, New York to Robert Louis Nemecek and Beatrice Lucas. Vanita was loved by her family and many friends for her sweet and kind nature and was always eager to help in the Lago Vista Community. She volunteered her time and energy to many local causes and was an active member of the St. Mary's, Our Lady of Lake Catholic Church. She also proudly served as Commissioner of Emergency Services District # 1 in Lago Vista, working with the local Fire Department and EMS Station assisting in their day-to-day operations. Vanita's greatest loves were her husband Paul V. Thomas, her five children and her many grandchildren.
