Born August 20, 1914 in Pageton, she was a daughter of Mrs. Frankie Penland Cook and the late Joseph S. Cook.
She had been a Bramwell resident for 47 years, where she was a life-time member of the Bramwell Presbyterian Church. She was a retired teacher and guidance counselor from Bramwell High School after 40 years of service. She was a graduate of Bluefield and Mary Washington Colleges, and did her graducate work at WV University and the University of Kentucky. She was a life-time member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and a member of various education associations.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are one daughter, Dr. Dennis (Mary Katherine) DeLeo of Altoona, Pa.; two sons, Herman Wiley Hill, Jr. and Henry Joseph Hill both of Morgantown, W.V.; three sisters, Mrs. Russell (Mary) Dean of Charleston, Mrs. Loring (Marjorie) Lyford of Richmond, Va., and Mrs. Charles (Zella) Durham of Bluefield; one brother, James Cook of Bluefield and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at Bramwell Presbyterian Church with Dr. C.H. Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Elders and Deacons of the church will serve as pallbearers. Flowerbearers will be laldies of the church.
Friends may call at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell today from 5 to 9 p.m.
The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services.
