Grace was the beautiful daughter, and fourth child of seven born to Jeff William Chenoweth and Melvia Willie Hensley Chenoweth in Healing Springs.
Grace had five Sisters and one Brother ~ Reba Estell (Hamilton), Edgar Mike, Fern, Lillian Lucille (Holland), Eunice Margaret (Bolin), and Clide Maxine (Owens Martin).
Grace Johnie was the Granddaughter of John King Chenoweth and Margaret Jane St. John Chenoweth and Baxter Hensley and Mary Elizabeth Tate Hensley.
She was a longtime resident of the Highfill community. She was a homemaker and a Methodist. She married Barnett James Leach December 29, 1937, they owned and operated a Filling Station and Grocery store in Highfill, Arkansas most all their married life. They were married 61 years and 9 months. Aunt Grace passed away October 18, 1999, at the age of 87. Uncle Barney passed away May 11, 2001, at the age of 90. They had no children.
Aunt Grace was such a sweet and very special lady, I remember going to visit them, they would always give my sister, brother and myself candy and ice cream. Mommy always said, when Grace was a girl, she would order the "best" dresses out of the catalog. I also remember Uncle Barney and Aunt Grace owned a new Buick car, they traded straight across for a 50 acre farm at Logan Special, Arkansas. Aunt Grace and Uncle Barney would come to our house every sunday afternoon to visit, as well as all our other Aunts and Uncles. Grace was a Sweet Daughter, Sister, Loving wife and Very Special Aunt.
