---Mrs. Lutitia Mock, daughter of James and Susan Hawkins, was born near Nashville, Tennessee, March 7, 1843, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Allen, October 15, 1928, aged 85 years, 7 months, and 8 days.
---She was united in marriage to Thomas Dudley and to this union were born five children, one of whom preceded her in death at infancy. Those living are: Willard of Novinger, Allen and Albert of Gifford, and Mrs. Lillie Gates of Callao.
---After the death of Mr. Dudley, she was united in marriage to Sampson Mock, August 6, 1876, and to this union were born four children; Mrs. Nora Allen, Adra Mock, Mrs. Ida Krawl, and James Mock, all of Gifford and vicinity.
---She also leaves 31 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Mr. Mock died December 9, 1921.
---Mrs. Mock was one of the pioneer women of this community having lived here about 65 years. She became a member of the Methodist Church in early life and after her marriage to Mr. Mock they both united with the Christian Church at Chariton Grove later moving their membership to Gifford.
---She was a woman of fine Christian character, a loving mother and a kind neighbor.
---Mrs. Mock became an invalid May 22, 1926 and since July 10th of that year has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Nora Allen.
---Funeral services were conducted by Brother Shumake of La Plata.
