---James Mock, 74, a retired merchant of Elmer, died Thursday night, May 31, at 10:50 in a Kirksville hospital. He had been in failing health for a number of years.
---Born in Adair County August 4, 1887, he was the son of Sampson and Lutitia Hawkins Mock.
---He married Ina Atteberry August 4, 1912 and to this marriage one son was born.
---Surviving are his wife, daughter-in-law, Gladys Mock of Elmer, two grandchildren, Orin and Monell Mock of Elmer and a number of nieces and nephews.
---He was preceded in death by his son, four brothers, three sisters and his parents.
---Mr. Mock had been a merchant, a school teacher and a banker in Macon and Adair County's. He was a member and a n elder of the Elmer Christian Church. He had been a member of the church 55 years. He was also a member of the Elmer Lodge No. 648 AF and AM and Elmer chapter No. 516 Order of the Eastern Star.
---Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Elmer Christian Church with Rev. Clyde McCollum and Danny Camp officiating. Burial was in the Elmer Cemetery. McCollum Funeral home of South Gifford was in charge. Bearers were Manford, Harry Fletcher, Bob Allen, Easel and Leonard Krawl and Raymond Allen.
