WILLIAMS Winnie Doris Adams Blackwell Williams was born in Bogalusa on November 19, 1923. She is survived by her daughter, Marsha Blackwell Hood of Dothan, AL, her son Alan Dewey Blackwell of Metairie, son-in-law Jerry Hood, and daughter-in-law Nancy Blackwell. She is also survived by two step-sons, Joe Ard Williams, Jr. of Bogalusa, LA and Jeffery Williams of Baton Rouge. Her grandchildren are Darren Hood, Angela Hood, Annd Ashley Hood, her step-granddaughter are Dean Ross, Chris Williams and Jennifer Williams Warren. Winnie was also survived by three sister-in-laws: Doris Amacker of Bogalusa, Gladys Adams of Baton Rouge and Juanita Adams of Dallas, TX. Winnie was the 12th child born to Fielding Mack and Ellen Jenkins Adams in the Ben's Ford Community of Bogalusa. She was the last surviving member of that nuclear family. Winnie was a graduate of Bogalusa High School, Elizabeth Sullivan Memorial Nursing School, Class of 1945, and received a B.S. Degree from Our Lady of Holy Cross College in 1979. Winnie was married to the late William Dewey Blackwell of Bogalusa for over 32 years. They were residents of New Orleans East and active members of Suburban Baptist Church . During their marriage and subsequent to his death, Winnie was a School Nurse with the New Orleans School Board (25) years. Previously she had nursed at Baptist Hospital in New Orleans, LA. Winnie was blessed a second time in marriage to Joe Ard Williams, Sr. of the Lee's Creek Community. They resided in Bogalusa for the duration of their marriage. They were active members of Lee's Creed Baptist Church. In recent years Winnie had been a faithful member of 1st Baptist Church, Bogalusa and particularly enjoyed her Sunday School Class and Senior actives. She was also a member of the Bogalusa CICIC League and Retired Teachers Association. The family would like to express heart felt thanks to many attentive loving family members, friends and neighbors who faithfully called and sent cards, visited and preformed many acts of loving kindness. She loved and cared so deeply for you all. You were truly a blessing to her and us. Visitation will be held in the Chapel of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home, 610 Ave. F, Bogalusa, LA Sunday from 5PM until 9PM. Visitation will continue Monday, April 21, 2008 from 9AM until time of services in the Chapel at 11AM. Burial will be in Hillview Memorial Gardens in Bogalusa, LA.
