Edward Vasichko, 90, of La Marque passed away on Friday, September 04, 2015, in Texas City.


Edward was born on November 22, 1924, to Lucas and Anna Vasichko in Streator, Illinois. Edward was a longtime resident of La Marque; a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and of the Knights of Columbus District 2. Edward served in the United States Army Air Forces during WW II, from 1943 to 1946, in the Asian Pacific Campaign, as an enemy aircraft spotter. He retired from Lipton Tea in Galveston as an electrician, and he coached Little League Baseball in La Marque.


He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Mary Jean and was the last survivor of 11 siblings.


Edward is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean Ann Vasichko of La Marque; daughter Diana Shepard (Andy); sons Gary Vasichko (Nancy), Gregg Vasichko (Donna) and David Vasichko (Terry), nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.


A Rosary and Vigil will be at 10:00am on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the Memorial Mass to follow at 11:00am with Father Chacko Puthumayil officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Queen of Peace Catholic Church in La Marque.
